I was disappointed that none of the USBC reports that I saw had any details about anyone's signature drinks. I was hoping to read about some.

Brad, you'll be happy to know, then, that there is a book in the words with recipes for barista signature drinks. That's the whole book.
This will include signature drinks from past and future competitions, and others since alcohol is not outside the spectrum of possibilities.
You'd better believe I'll make a post on TCP's main page when the release hits.

from what I saw at USBC there were some pretty interesting sig drinks,
the girl from Barefoot served her's in a passion fruit, and it was a cream, passion fruit, espresso drink interesting.
Heather's drink was 3 textures but she then had the judges drink it all at once for an effect. It involved a reduction and a foam
Chris Deferio's drink was an espresso infused with cedar(?) smoke, he used stemless wine glasses to trap the smoke and then had the judges release the smoke and drink the beverage.
Nick Cho did a rhubarb pie drink, where he did a rhubarb foam and served it in a pie crust.
Daryn Berlin's drink was an espress with some salt licorice hard candies in it.
sorry my details are hazy, it was hard to take it all in. SCAA is kinda like a 10 ring circus there is so much stuf going on. Also I wasn't as interested in the drinks themselves as studying the different ways people were working the judges, presenting, managing time etc.

Hey, Dan. I saw mention somewhere (maybe Mark Prince's report) of someone using a contraption that turned coffee into some sort of gelatinous substance that bursts in the mouth when consumed. Is that for real?! Do you know anything about that?

yeah, I have heard a lot about Billy's drink, unfortunately I did not get to see it.
I was teaching Intermediate espresso labs every morning at SCAA so i missed about half of the competitors each day. Plus the time that I spent on the show floor.
I have to say though, I watched most of the finals, and was not that surprised by the placings. Heather was on point this year, and after she won you could tell how bad she wanted it.

It's been said that she won it in her spare time and ran the BGA booth as a primary responsibility.

Yeah I know that she put together a big workshop on Friday, that involved demo's of latte art etc.
I had wanted to participate but our plane didn't get in early enough on Friday so I couldn't.
wish I could get my sig drink nailed down, all the ideas I have had flopped so far.
Clancy has an interesting idea in the works though.

I'm still fine-tuning my sig drink. It's been a consistent plan for a couple of months, though.
